On January 31, 2012, the small town of Mountain City, Tennessee was the stage for a shocking double murder. The murders of Bill Payne and Billie Jean Hayworth, the subsequent investigation, and trials ignited the attention of the media and garnered nationwide coverage. It would be known as "The Facebook Murders".
Tonight, ten years later, I welcome family members of the victims and the murderers as they share their stories to help us understand what happened. (Music Credit: "Night Bruise" written by M. Amandus, B. Corey, T. Lewandowski, S. Zimmerman) |
